Tracy Hoose
BOE Member: 3 Years

Tracy grew up in Colton and attended the school she is now proud to serve. After living in Rochester for seven years, she and her husband returned home to raise their children. Education has been a long standing passion of Tracy's. A teacher herself, she is familiar with the day to day workings of a school.  After teaching Living Environment for many years she made the difficult decision to leave her career to raise her family. She now provides daycare for many families in the district. As a parent of three children enrolled at CPCS, she is invested in serving the school, children and citizens of Colton and Pierrepont and would be grateful to do so for many years to come!

Cindy McLean
BOE Member: 1 Year

I have been a resident of Colton for 18 years and have 2 daughters currently attending CPCS.  After witnessing firsthand the hard work and dedication of our staff, teachers, and administrators in fostering personal and academic growth in not only my children but all children at CPCS I wanted to give back. I have been a Board member for 4 years and it has been a huge learning experience for me as I have gained a deeper understanding of, and appreciation for, the complexities of primary education. I have participated in local and regional educational opportunities and have volunteered to be on various CPCS committees in order to enhance the depth and breadth of my knowledge and my overall effectiveness as a Board member.

Change seems to be occurring at a rapid rate and as such it is important for our district to be forward thinking to ensure all of our teachers and administrator have the right tools and knowledge to implement the best curriculum for our students. As a Board member, I believe it is my role to consider input from all groups and weigh all the facts before making a decision.  I also want to ensure we are not making changes just for change sake. I hope to be a representative of the community by being accessible and willing to collaborate with all members of the community, and to continue building public understanding, support and participation.

As an occupational therapist for the past 30 years, I have spent my career helping individuals overcome obstacles and reach their highest level of functioning for the “job” of living life to the fullest. As such, it seems a natural fit with the mission of CPCS to educate students to become responsible, respectful and resourceful members of society. I am passionate about lifting the children of our community up, ensuring they feel valued and have the skills they need to successfully navigate life. The world they will grow up in will most certainly be challenging in ways that we cannot even conceive at this point in time. I believe it is our job to give them a solid educational base, fostering the very best in all of them and contributing to their continued success.

Christina Smith
BOE Member: First year!

Christina Smith is an Instructional Technologist for SUNY Canton. She earned two Bachelor of Science degrees in Education and Business Administration from Plymouth State University. She moved to the North Country in 2007 from Boston and after working as a CPCS Teaching assistant she realized what a great school we have here at Colton! She has two children, Max and Madeline. From her experiences Christina is still amazed at CPCS- the student-faculty ratio, hand-crafted educational experience, and the overall educational experience. Christina is honored to have the opportunity to represent the citizens of Colton and Pierrepont as a representative of the Colton-Pierrepont Central School Board for her first year!
