Colton Jr. Chef's Compete!

On March 12, two teams of 6th graders participated in the North Country Jr. Iron Chef competition.  The Colton Jr. Chefs team included Allie LaShomb,  Hailee Rush, and Matty Lovely.  Coached by Mrs. Katie LaShomb, these chefs prepared a Cheesy Veggie Quesadilla for the judges.

Mrs. Lianne Knight and Sadie Rose Knight coached The Galloping Gourmandes team of Landree Chamberlain, Maura Richards, and Savanna Smith.  This group created a Colts Scrambled Rainbow Stir Fry for the judges to sample.

Each team developed an original recipe that included a combination of local and USDA ingredients.  The idea behind this competition is to create healthy meals that can be served in a school cafeteria.  

The two teams practiced and revised their recipes several times before the final competition.  Not only was their hard work educational, a fun time was had by all!
