On Tuesday, April 18th, the Colts faced off against Malone Central School at the Colton field. The final score was 13-2, the first victory just a week after junior Captain Oliver “Ollie” Johnson (22) was in a tragic skiing accident in Colorado.
Dear Families,
At Colton-Pierrepont we pride ourselves on doing hard things because of our can-do attitude. We teach, reteach, and push students to apply learned strategies, skills, and concepts across all grade levels so our students can meet any challenge! This week we will embark on the 2023 testing season. Students in grades 3-8 will take the English Language Arts test this week and the Math test in May.
At CPCS, we know testing is not the be-all, end-all. It does, however, provide an opportunity for a teachable moment: to prepare our students to face challenges. Preparing for and facing challenges is a valuable life lesson we can all appreciate. When the message regarding challenges is consistent both at school and at home, students are more apt to give it their all. Please join us in encouraging our students to do their very best on the upcoming assessments.
Colton-Pierrepont has been recognized for leading the county and much of the state in assessment participation. Our high participation rate continues to be a great point of pride for our small school. We have always encouraged students to do their best, and each year they do not disappoint.
Your partnership in developing students that are responsible, respectful, and resourceful citizens is much appreciated as we strive to continue to be leaders in the North Country.
Here are some simple steps to ensure your student is prepared:
Get a good night’s sleep. This will ensure that your child has the energy and stamina to do their very best.
Have a good nutritious breakfast on the day of the exams. After all, breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
Promote exercise the day before and the day of the exam to help prepare your child to be in the best possible mindset when testing.
We will also continue the tradition of themed days to bring a little fun to test season!

Members of the Women’s Clarkson Golden Knight Hockey team came to Colton-Pierrepont Central School to play with the elementary students during P.E.. Starting on the left is Nicole Goslin #21, then Kirstyn McQuigge #17, and on the right is Sena Catterall #25. Goslin is a junior currently studying psychology, McQuigge is getting her business major, and Catterall is studying chemical engineering. They enjoyed hanging out with the students; all of them were very excited.

Hello Folks,
Some schools in our area will be running a 2 hour delay this morning. They have received an email bomb threat from out of the area that appears to be a hoax. However even with the high likelihood that this is a hoax they are taking measures necessary to ensure a safe environment for the students.
CPCS has not received this email and we will be starting school on time. If something changes we will adjust and implement our safety protocols to ensure the safety of staff and students.

We typically do not message out about our required safety drills but wanted to be sensitive to the recent events in our country. Should you have any questions or concerns, feel free to give me a call.
